Janice Hughes Gunnells

Theatre Workshop

Janice Hughes Gunnells is thrilled to be back teaching acting at Movement Laboratory! A performer at Gretna Theatre for many years, she also works as a Teaching Artist for their educational programs, and completed Teaching Artist training at Walnut Street Theater in Philadelphia. A local theater and music educator in various schools, she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The Boston Conservatory and performed in New York City for many years as well as regional theaters across the country.

Dan Burke

Stage Combat - Fight Choreographer

Learn the Art of Stage Combat this fall with Fight Choreographer, Dan Burke. This class will teach students how to “act the fight”. Students will learn Hand to Hand combat for the stage. This class will also focus on acting and how to make the fight believable.

Instructor Dan Burke teaches Stage Combat at Fairfield University, Lebanon Valley College and York College. He has choreographed Violence for The Harlem Shakespeare Festival, The Baltimore Shakespeare Factory, The Harrisburg Shakespeare Company and many Theatres up and down the east coast. He earned his BFA in Acting with an emphasis in Stage Combat from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Dan has been certified in Hand to Hand Combat, Rapier and Dagger, Quarter Staff, Broad Sword, Machete and Buckler and holds a certificate in Theatrical Firearms Training.
